Pune, September 2026: As part of the Women Empowerment Project supported by AXA Global Business Services, Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) is organizing skill classes to help women acquire practical vocational skills that can contribute to income generation and greater economic participation. During September 2026, DBDS conducted Mehndi and Tailoring classes for women in Ashrafnagar, Kondhwa, Pune, and also conducted tailoring classes at the Don Bosco Office, Chinchwad. The details are as follows:
Mehndi Classes- Ashrafnagar, Kondhwa are facilitated by Mrs. Firdos Shaikh as trainer. A total of 10 women are enrolled in the Mehndi training. The classes provide participants with practical skills in Mehndi application, enabling them to develop a skill that can potentially be used for small-scale income-generating activities, particularly during festivals, weddings and other social occasions.
Tailoring Classes- Ashrafnagar, Kondhwa are facilitated by Mrs. Firdos Shaikh. A total of 21 women are enrolled in the tailoring training. The classes focus on developing practical tailoring skills that can be used for personal needs as well as for undertaking small tailoring assignments or home-based income-generating activities.
Tailoring Classes- Don Bosco Office, Chinchwad are facilitated by Ms. Priya Purohit and is attended by 12 women.
The activities enrolled 43 women across the three training activities. The continuing classes at Ashrafnagar, Kondhwa, provide an ongoing opportunity for women to practise and strengthen their skills, while the tailoring classes at Chinchwad extend similar skill-development opportunities to women in another community.
