1713 AXA-DBDS Project: Rally on Cancer Awareness

Chinchwad (Pune), September 2024:  The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), as part of its 'Women Empowerment Project' supported by AXA Global Business Services, organized a rally to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and its connection to cancer.

 The rally took place on 27th September 2024, with over 70 students and school staff from PCMC School, M. Phule Nagar, participating. The event aimed to educate the local community about the dangers of tobacco use and its link to cancer. The participants gathered at the school playground at 3:00 PM, where they were briefed on the importance of the rally.

 From there, the group marched through the streets of M. Phule Nagar, Mohan Nagar, and Dutta Nagar slum areas, carrying placards with messages on cancer causes, signs and symptoms, tobacco cessation, the harmful effects of tobacco and Gutkha consumption, as well as information on diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. The students were enthusiastic and actively communicated these important messages to residents and commuters.

 The rally concluded with a gathering, where delicious snacks were served to all participants, leaving everyone with a sense of accomplishment and heightened awareness about the dangers of tobacco.
