Pune, February 2023: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized three adolescent health awareness session for 48 adolescent girls and boys under the aegis of ‘Health Care and Sustainable Environment Project’ supported by AXA Business Services. The details are as follows:

Three Adolescent Health Awareness Sessions were organized this month. 48 girls and boys participated in this programme. The details are as follows:

First session was held on 4th February 2023 at PCMC School in Ajanta Nagar for 20 boys. Dr Vikas Chothe was the resource person. 

Second session was also held 12th February 2023 at Khadi Machine Slum for 15 girls. Mrs. Akshada Naik was the resource person. 

Third session was also held 25th February 2023 at Daravde Mala Slum for 13 girls. Mrs. Priya Sonawane was the resource person. 

The objective of the sessions was to educate adolescent girls and boys on personal health, hygiene and sanitation, menstrual cycle, diet, physical and mental fitness and nutrition. The resource person spoke about physical changes, psychological changes, vulnerability to reproductive health risks, nutrition, contraceptives, sexually transmitted diseases, sexual abuse, drugs and substance abuse, etc. Participants were also informed about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption. This was followed by a question and answer session in which the participants asked questions which were answered by the resource persons. After the session snacks were served to all.
