1664 AXA-DBDS Project: Health Awareness Session for Adults 

Pune, May 2024:  The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) organized three health awareness sessions for adults residing in various slums of Pune. 49 ladies participated in these awareness sessions held under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by AXA Global Business Services. The objective of the programme was to educate women on health, hygiene and health risk behaviour. The details of sessions conducted are as follows:

First session was organized on 24th May 2024 at Mother Teresa Nagar slum for 20 ladies.   Mrs. Sneha Baladhi was the resource person. 

Second session was organized on 24th May 2024 at Munjoba Wasti slum for 14 ladies. Mrs. Vaishali Sonde was the resource person. 

Third session was held on 27th May 2024 for 15 ladies in Munjoba Wasti Slum. Mrs. Manisha Nikam was the resource person. 

In these sessions following topics were covered by the resource person:

Personal Hygiene, Nutrition, age related ailments

Oral Cancer; Causes, Symptoms and Treatment 

Testing, screening and treatment of Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer

Following suggestions were given by the resource person: 

Do not smoke or chew tobacco

Limit alcohol consumption

Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables and grains

Do not be overweight

Lead an active life and exercise
