Pune, July 2023: The Don Bosco Development Society organized three legal awareness sessions under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by AXA Business Services. 60 ladies participated in these sessions. 

First session was organized on 8th July 2023 in Thite Wasti slum for 18 ladies. Second session was organized on 10th July 2023 at Suraksha Nagar slum for 17 ladies. Adv Yasmeen was the resource person for these two sessions. Third session was organized on 18th July 2023 at Ajanta Nagar slum for 25 ladies. Adv Preeti Sathe was the resource person.

The resource persons covered following topics: 

• Labour Laws

• Protection of Women’s from Domestic Violence Act 2005

• Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act – 1956 

• Dowry Prohibition Act – 1961 sec 498 A 

• The Criminal law amendment act 2014

• Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012

Few participants also discussed their problems and were guided accordingly by the resource person. The resource persons also encouraged women to speak-up their problems and act collectively.
