Pune, September 2022: The Don Bosco Development Society organized four legal awareness sessions for the women residing in slums of Pune city and Chinchwad. 117 women participated in these sessions held under the aegis of “Health Care and Sustainable Environment Project” supported by AXA Business Services.

The Don Bosco Development Society organized four legal awareness sessions for 117 women from various slums of Pune City and Chinchwad. The details are as follows:

First session was held on 7^th September 2022 at Yashwant Nagar slum. Adv Prachi Salve was the resource person. 22 women participated in this session.

Second session was held on 13^th September 2022 at Darawade Mala slum. Adv Prachi Salve was the resource person. 28 women participated in this session.

Third session was held on 14^th September 2022 at Dutta Nagar slum. Adv Preeti Sathe was the resource person. 33 women participated in this session.

Fourth session was held on 27^th September 2022 at Ambedkar Nagar slum. Adv Preeti Sathe was the resource person. 34 women participated in this session.

The resource persons covered following topics:

• Labour Laws

• Protection of Women’s from Domestic Violence Act 2005

• Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act – 1956

• Dowry Prohibition Act – 1961 sec 498 A

• The Criminal law amendment act 2014

• Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012

Few participants also discussed their problems and were guided accordingly by the resource person. The resource person also encouraged women to speak-up their problems and act collectively.
