Pune, October 2022: The Don Bosco Development Society organized five legal awareness sessions for 119 women under the aegis of “Health Care and Sustainable Environment” Project supported by AXA business services. The details are as follows:

First session was held on 12^th October 2022 at Suraksha Nagar slum. Adv Prafulla Ovhal was the resource person. 19 women participated in this session.

Second session was held on 13^th October 2022 at Vidyanagar slum. Adv Preeti Sathe was the resource person. 27 women participated in this session.

Third session was held on 14^th October 2022 at Netaji Nagar slum. Adv Yasmeen was the resource person. 22 women participated in this session.

Fourth session was held on 17^th October 2022 at Ram Nagar slum. Adv Preeti Sathe was the resource person. 34 women participated in this session.

Fifth session was held on 21^st October 2022 at Laxminagar slum. Adv Surekha Jadhav was the resource person. 17 women participated in this session.

The resource persons covered following topics:

• Labour Laws

• Protection of Women’s from Domestic Violence Act 2005

• Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act – 1956

• Dowry Prohibition Act – 1961 sec 498 A

• The Criminal law amendment act 2014

• Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012

Few participants also discussed their problems and were guided accordingly by the resource person. The resource persons also encouraged women to speak-up their problems and act collectively.
