Pune, December 2024:  The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) organized two health awareness sessions for 46 ladies under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by AXA Global Business Services. The details are presented in following table: 

First health awareness session was organized on 3rd December 2024 at Anand Nagar slum. Dr Prajakta Aswar was the resource person. 22 ladies participated in this session. 

Second health awareness session was organized on 17th December 2024 at Tipu Sultan Nagar slum. Mrs Yogini Thorat was the resource person. 24 ladies participated in this session. 

The objective of the programme was to educate women on health, hygiene and health risk behaviour. Following topics were covered by the resource person:

• Personal Hygiene, Nutrition, age related ailments

• Oral Cancer; Causes, Symptoms and Treatment 

• Testing, screening and treatment of Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer

Following suggestions were given by the resource person: 

• Do not smoke or chew tobacco

• Limit alcohol consumption

• Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables and grains

• Do not be overweight

• Lead an active life and exercise
