1614 AXA-DBDS Project: Legal Awareness Session for ladies
Pune, January 2024: The Don Bosco Development Society organized ten legal literacy sessions for 234 ladies under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by AXA Business Services. The details are as follows:
First session was organized on 2nd January 2024 at Lokseva Tadiwala Road slum for 30 ladies. Adv. Yasmeen was the resource person.
Second session was organized on 5th January 2024 at Bhimnagar Ghorpadi slum for 21 ladies. Adv. Yasmeen was the resource person.
Third session was organized on 8th January 2024 at Siababa Nagar slum for 19 ladies. Adv.Harshada Gaikwad and Adv. Manisha Gutty were the resource persons.
Fourth session was organized on 10th January 2024 at Khadi Machine slum for 24 ladies. Adv. Aarti Dhamankar was the resource person.
Fifth session was organized on 10th January 2024 at Ganeshnagar, Yerwada slum for 18 ladies. Adv. Yasmeen was the resource person.
Sixth session was organized on 16th January 2024 at Ajanhta Nagar slum for 23 ladies. Adv.Preeti Sathe was the resource person.
Seventh session was organized on 23rd January 2024 at Navi Khadaki, Yerwada slum for 16 ladies. Adv. Yasmeen was the resource person
Eighth session was organized on 24rd January 2024 at Bhaiyawadi Tadivala Rd slum for 20 ladies. Adv. Yasmeen was the resource person
Ninth session was organized on 27th January 2024 at Shivraj Chowk, Yerwada slum for 32 ladies. Adv. Yasmeen was the resource person
Tenth session was organized on 31st January 2024 at Indira Nagar slum for 31 ladies. Adv. Aarti Dhamankar was the resource person.
The resource persons covered following topics:
• Labour Laws
• Protection of Women’s from Domestic Violence Act 2005
• Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act – 1956
• Dowry Prohibition Act – 1961 sec 498 A
• The Criminal law amendment act 2014
• Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012
Few participants also discussed their problems and were guided accordingly by the resource person. The resource persons also encouraged women to speak-up their problems and act collectively.
