Pune, November 2024:  The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) organized a health awareness session on 14th November 2024 for ladies residing in the Khadi Machine slum in Chinchwad. 34 ladies participated in the awareness session held under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by AXA Global Business Services. The objective of the programme was to educate women on health, hygiene and health risk behaviour. Mrs. Yogini Thorat was the resource person. Following topics were covered by the resource person:

• Personal Hygiene, Nutrition, age related ailments

• Oral Cancer; Causes, Symptoms and Treatment 

• Testing, screening and treatment of Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer

Following suggestions were given by the resource person: 

• Do not smoke or chew tobacco

• Limit alcohol consumption

• Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables and grains

• Do not be overweight

• Lead an active life and exercise
