1629 AXA-DBDS Project: Rallies on Health and Environment Conservation 

Pune, February 2024: The Don Bosco Development Society organized six rallies on the issues related to Health and Environmental Conservation.  About 290 children participated in these rallies under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by AXA Business Services. The details are as follows:  

First rally was organized on 5th February 2024 to create awareness on Cancer. More than 85 students and school staff from Mata Ramabai Ambedkar School participated in this rally. The rally started at 10.10 am. The school children gathered at their school playground at 10:10 am where they were briefed about the rally. From there they walked through the lanes of Ajantha Nagar. In the rally, children carried placards with slogans on the causes of Cancer, Signs and Symptoms, Tobacco Cessation, harmful effects of tobacco and effects of Chewing Gutkha, Diagnosis, Prevention & Treatment. Children were very excited to participate in the rally and communicated their message to residents and commuters on the way. After the rally sumptuous Snacks were served to all.

Second rally was organized on 10th February 2024 to create awareness on Tuberculosis. 52 Students and school staff  from PCMC school, Mohan Nagar  participated in this rally. The students gathered at their school hall at 8.45 am where they were briefed by the project staff. From there they walked along Pimpri-Chinchwad MIDC road, Mohan Nagar, Dutta Nagar, Ram Nagar slum. In the rally, women carried placards with slogans on tuberculosis causes, signs and symptoms, tuberculosis diagnosis, prevention and treatment. Girls were very excited to participate in the rally and communicated their message to residents and commuters on the way. After rally Snacks were distributed to all participants.

On February 28, 2024, four impactful rallies were organized to create awareness on calls for climate action, environmental conservation, and water preservation. In the first rally, participants emphasized the urgency of adopting renewable energy sources and reducing carbon footprints. Simultaneously, a second rally focused on biodiversity conservation, stressing the need to protect ecosystems and endangered species. The third rally, dedicated to water conservation, highlighted the growing global water crisis emphasizing the importance of responsible water usage and the preservation of freshwater resources. Lastly, a fourth rally centered on raising public awareness about plastic pollution. Participants called for reduced plastic consumption, recycling initiatives, and governmental policies to curb single-use plastics
