Vadodara, December 2024 : The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Vadodara organized Tailoring Skill Training for a batch of 20 girls from the slums of Vadodara under the aegis of project supported by MIX FOR KIDS e.V (Germany).
Ms Nitu Yadav was the instructor. She took four sessions whose details are as follows:
This month the students learnt to stich Baby’s Diaper, Cap, Simple Frock, and Umbrella Frock under the guidance of the instructor. The first session focused on stitching a Baby’s Diaper, introducing beginners to basic cutting and sewing techniques. Participants learned to measure and shape fabric accurately, ensuring the design was both practical and comfortable for infants. Emphasis was placed on using soft, baby-friendly materials. The second session introduced the art of making a Baby’s Cap. The instructor guided participants in creating snug and adorable caps, teaching them how to work with curves and elastic to ensure a perfect fit. In the third session, participants crafted a Simple Frock, exploring foundational garment-making skills. The instructor demonstrated techniques for creating neat seams, adding pleats, and achieving precise finishing touches. The final session brought excitement with the creation of an Umbrella Frock, a more advanced project. Participants learned to cut fabric in circular patterns, stitch flares, and assemble layers for a flowing design.
