Pune, September 2024:  The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) organized a health awareness sessions for adults residing in various slums of Pune. 36 ladies participated in these awareness sessions held under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by AXA Global Business Services. The objective of the programme was to educate women on health, hygiene and health risk behaviour. The details of sessions conducted are as follows:

Following topics were covered by the resource person:

• Personal Hygiene, Nutrition, age related ailments

• Oral Cancer; Causes, Symptoms and Treatment 

• Testing, screening and treatment of Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer

Following suggestions were given by the resource person: 

• Do not smoke or chew tobacco

• Limit alcohol consumption

• Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables and grains

• Do not be overweight

• Lead an active life and exercise
