1623 AXA-DBDS Project: Health Awareness Session for Women
Pune, December 2022: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) organized three awareness sessions for women residing in various slums of Pune. 69 women participated in these awareness sessions held under the aegis of ‘Health care and Sustainable Environment Project’’ supported by AXA Business Services. The objective of the programme was to educate women on health, hygiene and health risk behaviour. The details of sessions conducted are as follows:
First session was held on 9th December 2022 at Ajantha Nagar slum for 24 women. Mrs. Akshada Naik was the resource person. Second session was held on 21st December 2022 for 20 women in Vidya Nagar slum. Mrs Vibhawari Kamble was the resource person. Third session was held on 28th December 2022 at Laxminagar Nagar slum for 19 women. Mr.Nagsen Chavan and Mrs.Lina Gaikwad were the resource persons.
In these sessions following topics were covered by the resource person:
Personal Hygiene
Oral Cancer; Causes, Symptoms and Treatment
Testing, screening and treatment of Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer
Following suggestions were given by the resource person:
Do not smoke or chew tobacco
Limit alcohol consumption
Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables and grains
Do not be overweight
Lead an active life and exercise
