1747 Skills Programme: Creative Ideas from Waste

Vadodara, December 2024: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Vadodara organized three ‘Best out of Waste’ Trainings for a batch of 8 girls and 11 boys from slums of Vadodara under the aegis of project supported by MIX FOR KIDS e.V (Germany).

Ms Manshi Yadav was the resource person. She took three sessions, whose details are as follows:

This month the instructor guided participants through the creation of a Merry-Go-Round, Money Plant, and Santa Claus House, using everyday materials like candy sticks, bamboo sticks, acrylic colors, white paper, glue sticks, fake money, black cardboard, golden lace, thick golden lace, Fevicol, cotton, and red and white letter paper.

The session began with the Merry-Go-Round, where participants assembled candy and bamboo sticks to form a miniature carousel. Using acrylic colors, they painted vibrant designs, adding an artistic touch to the structure. Next, the focus shifted to the Money Plant, crafted with fake money and golden lace. Participants learned to shape and arrange the notes on a sturdy black cardboard base, using thick golden lace for decorative detailing, resulting in a stylish and symbolic centerpiece. The final activity, the Santa Claus House, was an exciting project. Using cotton for snow effects, red and white letter paper for design, and glue sticks for assembly, participants created a festive miniature house.
