Vadodara, January 2026: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Vadodara organized special activities for more than 200 children under the aegis of Slum Children Education Project supported by Elmex Charitable Foundation, Vadodara.
Uttarayana was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 13 January 2026. Younger children participated by coloring kites, while older children made and prepared kites on their own. The activity encouraged creativity and teamwork among the children. At the end, tilgul sweets were distributed, and the celebration concluded with children joyfully flying their kites outside the classroom.
On 12 January 2026, an activity was conducted to explain the importance of air to children. Teachers discussed how air is essential for breathing and survival, supports plants in making food through photosynthesis, and helps in sound, movement, and sports activities. Children learned how air enables birds, kites, and airplanes to fly, helps dry things, fuels fire, and is used to inflate balloons and balls, making learning both informative and engaging.
Another activity was held on 28 January 2026 to introduce children to the three states of matter: solids, liquids, and gases. The teacher explained their properties and differences using simple examples. Children learned that solids have a fixed shape and volume, liquids have a fixed volume but change shape, and gases have neither fixed shape nor volume. Common examples like rock, water, and air helped children understand the concept clearly.
A staff meeting was conducted to review students’ academic performance and overall development. Discussions were held on parent meetings, reporting systems, and proper documentation. The meeting focused on improving teaching strategies, strengthening communication with parents, and ensuring systematic record-keeping for effective monitoring of student progress.
