The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) organized a series of free community health camps in February 2026 under the Women Empowerment Project, supported by AXA Global Business Services, to address the healthcare needs of vulnerable populations living in urban slums of Pune.
During February 2026, a total of six Free Eye and General Health Check-up Camps were organized in the slum areas of M. Phule Nagar, Vijay Nagar, Dalavi Nagar, Dutta Nagar, Aanand Nagar, and Bhayyawadi (Pune) to provide accessible primary healthcare services to underserved communities. The camps were conducted with the support of qualified doctors including Dr. Vaishanvi Gawhaye, Dr. Pooja Jamkar, Dr. Nita Shirsat, Dr. Sushil Salunke, Dr. Rahul Patil, Dr. Vijay Borhade, and other medical professionals, along with Nurse Ms. Akanshaa Kamble and opticians from H. V. Desai Eye Hospital. The camps provided free medical consultations, eye examinations, and general health screenings, benefiting a total of 473 community members. These initiatives helped in early detection of common health issues, raised awareness about preventive healthcare, and ensured timely medical advice and referrals for the residents of these marginalized communities.
