Vadodara, September 2025: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Vadodara organized Beauty Care Skill Training for 42 girls from slums of Vadodara under the aegis of Skill Development project supported by MIX FOR KIDS e.V (Germany). The training is given in two batches. The morning batch consists of 20 girls trained by Ms Maheshwari Lohar and afternoon batch consist of 22 girls trained by Ms Roshniben Makwana. The session’s details are as follows:
In the morning sessions at Shikota Nagar, Ms. Maheshwari Lohar led the training for 20 girls. The sessions covered a range of topics, starting with the basics of hair cutting techniques, where participants learned how to handle scissors, section hair properly, and execute different styles of cuts. Following this, the focus shifted to hair styling, where the girls were introduced to creative and trendy hairstyles suitable for various occasions. Practical demonstrations were also given on the use of a hair straightener, teaching the safe handling of equipment, heat protection, and achieving sleek, smooth results. Finally, the session concluded with techniques for creating hair curls, including methods using curling irons as well as simple, no-heat techniques.
In the afternoon sessions at Kishanwadi, Ms. Roshniben Makwana conducted a similar series of workshops for 22 girls. The sessions ensured that participants gained hands-on experience in all four areas-hair cutting, styling, straightening, and curling. With a strong focus on practice, each girl was given the opportunity to try out the techniques under the trainer’s guidance, boosting both their confidence and skill level.
Overall, these training batches not only taught the technical aspects of hairstyling but also helped the girls understand hygiene, professional presentation, and client handling, thus preparing them with essential skills for possible employment or self-employment in the beauty care sector.
