Pune, October 2025: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) organized three health Check-up Camps under the Women Empowerment Project supported by AXA Global Business Services. The details are as follows:
First health camp was organized on 16th October 2025 at Kamrajnagar, Yerwada, where 89 residents, including men, women, and children, availed free check-ups for sugar, blood pressure, haemogram, height, and weight. The event also included the distribution of free multivitamin medicines. Dr. Megha Shelar and her team of para-medical professionals provided dedicated medical services and valuable health guidance. Many individuals diagnosed with anaemia, high BP, and elevated sugar levels were counselled on proper diet, lifestyle, and preventive care, leading to widespread appreciation from the beneficiaries.
Second health camp (Breast Cancer Screening Camp) was organized on 17th October 2025 at M. Phule Nagar slum. The camp provided digital mammography screening for 48 women aged between 40 to 75 years. Radio technicians Ms. Rupali Fulbandhe and Ms. Monika Shalae, along with nurse Ms. Tejswini Gaikwad examined the ladies. The DBDS team efficiently managed all logistics and mobilization efforts, ensuring smooth operation of the camp. The participating women appreciated this free and timely medical service, which emphasized the importance of early detection and awareness of breast cancer.
Third health camp (Breast Cancer Check-up Camp) was organized on 29th October 2025 at Tadiwala Road, Pune, benefiting 37 women from the local slum community. Technician Ms. Asha Gaikwad, who used advanced AI and thermal methods for screening. Two women were identified with suspected breast lumps and were counselled for further medical follow-up. Each participant received personal guidance on breast health and early detection, which greatly enhanced their awareness and confidence.
