Pune, August 2026: The Don Bosco Development Society organized two health awareness sessions in August 2026 in two slum communities. These sessions were organized under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by AXA Global Business Services. A total of 32 women participated in the sessions. The details are as follows:
The sessions aimed to raise awareness among women about personal health, hygiene, nutrition, and behaviours that may increase health risks. The resource person discussed important health concerns and preventive measures, including:
• Personal hygiene, nutrition, and age-related health issues
• Oral cancer, including its causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment
• Importance of screening, testing, and timely treatment for breast and cervical cancer
Participants were also encouraged to adopt healthier lifestyles and were advised to:
• Avoid smoking and chewing tobacco
• Reduce alcohol consumption
• Maintain a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains
• Prevent excessive weight gain
• Stay physically active and exercise regularly
The sessions helped participants improve their awareness of common health risks and encouraged them to adopt preventive health practices in their daily lives.
