Vadodara, March 2026 : The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Vadodara organized Tailoring Skill Training classes for young ladies in the slums of Kishanwadi. The classes are run in two batches held between 1-3 pm and 5-7 pm respectively. Each batch has 20 ladies, so a total of 40 ladies are undergoing training under the aegis of project supported by MIX FOR KIDS e.V (Germany).
Ms Neha Sonavne is the instructor. The details of the sessions are as follows:
In March, a total of 8 vocational training sessions were conducted at the Kishanwadi slum. Under the expert guidance of Neha Sonavne, two separate batches of 20 girls each participated in intensive tailoring and garment construction modules. The curriculum focused on both traditional and contemporary ethnic wear, ensuring a versatile skill set for the participants:
• Bottom Wear: Students mastered the complex draping and stitching of the Dhoti Salwar.
• Blouse & Top Construction: Detailed instruction was provided on the Princess Cut Blouse and trendy Crop Tops, focusing on fit and finishing.
• Design Details: The Dori-wala Kurta session taught students how to incorporate functional and decorative elements.
By the end of the month, the participants gained hands-on experience in pattern cutting and garment assembly, significantly boosting their confidence in professional tailoring.
